Reshape any sound at the frequency level. 18 effects running in the spectral domain — from subtle shimmer to radical transformation.
Demo is the full plugin — output fades briefly every 45 s until activated.

Effect Chain
Seventeen effects run in the frequency domain after STFT analysis, capped by a time-domain ring modulator. Chain order is fixed and optimized for musical results.
Ring buffer of FFT frames. Variable speed from −2× to +2×.
4 modes: Static, Accumulate, Decay, Stochastic.
Phase vocoder with instantaneous frequency tracking. MIDI note input.
Additive harmony voice up to ±24 semitones, phase-vocoder tracked for smooth, non-metallic layers.
Running average magnitude decay for smearing and ghosting.
Crossfade live signal against a captured reference spectrum.
Fisher-Yates bin shuffle with deterministic seed. Preserves DC.
Zero-phase low/high cut as per-bin gain — shape what feeds the delay and reverb.
Per-bin circular buffers. Tempo sync with 13 divisions down to 1/64.
Per-bin RT60 with frequency-dependent decay + phase diffusion.
Hysteresis, per-bin gain envelope smoothing.
Normalized magnitudes, asymmetric attack/release per bin.
Logarithmic dB/octave slope from 1 kHz reference.
Independent formant movement without pitch change.
M/S + phase offsets. Scatter mode for odd/even bins.
Frequency-domain sidechain ducking for transparent pumping.
Apply one sound's spectral envelope to another via sidechain.
Time-domain ring mod, 2× oversampled so the sidebands never alias. Metallic and inharmonic textures.
Modulation
Drag a source onto any of 27 destinations, then set the depth right on the knob — Serum-style. Set it and forget it, or drive it from MIDI for performance control.
9 shapes with live waveform display, phase offset, unipolar mode, tempo sync down to 1/64 (plus dotted & triplet), and song-position lock — the cycle lands the same on every pass.
Up to 32 steps locked to the song position — rhythmic modulation that snaps to the grid wherever you hit play.
Attack/release-smoothed input energy. Use dynamics to drive any parameter.
Bipolar macro sources mappable to any combination of parameters.
Note-to-pitch-shift and note-triggered freeze. Play the plugin like an instrument.

Specifications
macOS coming later
Vellum currently ships for Windows only. A macOS (AU/VST3) build is in the roadmap.
FAQ
Yes — STFT processing introduces latency equal to the FFT size (1024/2048/4096 samples). Vellum reports this to the host via setLatencySamples(), so DAWs with PDC (plugin delay compensation) will time-align other tracks automatically. Reaper, Ableton Live, Cubase, and FL Studio all support PDC.
Not yet — Vellum currently ships as Windows VST3 only. macOS support is planned for a future release.
Yes — the demo is the full plugin, no features removed. Until you activate a license, the output briefly fades to silence every 45 seconds. Enter your key after purchase and it unlocks instantly, no reinstall. There's also a 14-day refund policy on top.
After purchase you'll receive a download link. Unzip the archive and copy Vellum.vst3 to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. Rescan plugins in your DAW. Full instructions in the install guide.
It depends on which effects you enable and the FFT size. With all 18 effects active at FFT 4096 on stereo material, expect ~8-15% of a single modern CPU core. Smaller FFT sizes or fewer active effects cost significantly less. The engine is heavily optimized with per-bin LUTs and (where available) Intel IPP for FFT.
Only once, to activate your license key. After that the license lives in a local file and Vellum runs fully offline — no phone-home, no periodic checks, no account required.
Yes. Your license covers personal use on up to 5 machines (e.g. studio desktop + laptop). Activation is one-time per machine — after that the license works fully offline.
